This was the first remedy proved by Dr. Hahnemann. It affects the blood, making it thinner, and impoverished. It weakens the heart and impairs the CIRCULATION, producing congestion and HAEMORRHAGES; anaemia, complete relaxation and collapse. The debility in China, is due to PROFUSE, EXHAUSTING DISCHARGES; loss of vital fluids, excessive suppuration, diarrhoea, haemorrhages etc. INTERMITTENT periodicity is very marked in fever and neuralgias. Patient becomes weak, oversensitive and nervous; everything upsets him; light, noise, odours, pain etc. Bursting pain. Neuralgia. Dropsy, after loss of fluids, haemorrhages. Emaciation esp. of children, Anaemia. Hard swelling. Rheumatism. Sepsis. Inflammation of bleeding organ, after haemorrhages, and the part rapidly turns black. Convulsions, during haemorrhages. Haemorrhages, profuse; with loss of sight, faintness, and ringing in ears. Post operative gas pains no better from passing it. Ill effects of; masturbation, vexation, cold, stopped coryza, tea, mercury, alcohol. Psoas abscess. It is suited to persons of thin, dry, bilious constitution. Wounds become black and gangrenous. Epilepsy; chorea; paralysis; from loss of fluids.

2 to 4 tablets 4 times a day or as prescribed by the physician

  • For stout, swarthy persons, system once robust which have become debilitated "broken down"from exhausting discharges.
  • Apathetic, indifferent, taciturn, despodent, gloomy, has no desire to live but lacks courrage to commit sucide.
  • Ailments from loss of vital fluids especially haemorrhages, excessive lactation, diarrhoea, suppuration, of malarial origin, with marked periodicity, return every other day.
  • Acute disease often reult in dropsy.
  • Pains drawing or tearing in every joint, all the bones.
  • Periosteum, as if sprained, sore all over, olbiged to move limbs frequently as motion gives relief, renewed by contact and then gradually increase to a great height.
  • Headache as if skull would burst, intense throbbing of head and carotids, face, flushed, from occiput over whole head worse sitting or lying, must stand or walk.
  • Colic at a certain hour each day, periodical from gall stones, worse at night and after eating, better bending double.
  • Unrefreshing sleep or constant sopor worse after 3 AM wakens easily.
  • Debility from exhausting discharges, from loss of vital fluids together with a nervous erethism. Such patients are very sensitive to draughts. 
  • Anaemia that follows the loss of vital fluid, haemorrhage, prolonged or excessive lactation, diarrhea or sexual excess
  • Toothache; better pressing teeth firmly together, and by warmth. Tongue coated thick, dirty; tip burns, succeeded by ptyalism. Bitter taste. Food tastes too salty.
  • Vomiting of undigested food. Slow digestion. Weight after eating. Ill effects of tea.
  • Undigested, frothy, yellow;painless; worse at night, after meals, during hot weather, from fruit, milk, beer. 
  • Fever: Intermittent, paroxysms anticipate; return every week. All stages well marked. Chill generally in forenoon, commencing in breast; thirst before chill, and little and often. Debilitating night-sweats. Free perspiration caused by every little exertion, especially on single parts. Hay fever, watery coryza, pain in temples.
  • Malarial cachexia, chronic fever with liver & spleen complaints
  • Dropsy, either generalised or localised, from anaemia, loss of vital fluid or haemorrhage 
  • Profuse menses with pain. Desire too strong. Bloody leucorrhœa. Seems to take the place of the usual menstrual discharge. Painful heaviness in pelvis.
  • Dispostion to haemorrhage from every orfice of the body with ringing in ears, fainting, loss of sight.
  • Useful in bad effects from excessive tea drinking or abuse of chamomile tea, when haemorrhage results

MODALITIES:

  • Worse: slightest touch. Draught of air; every other day; loss of vital fluids; at night; after eating; bending over. 

  • Better: bending double; hard pressure; open air; warmth.
