It corresponds to many diseased conditions to which a modern man is prone to. It is useful to those persons who lead a sedentary life, doing much mental work; or to those who remain under stress and strain of prolonged office work, business cares and worries. Such persons in order to forget their worries are apt to indulge in wine, women, rich stimulant food and sedative drugs; and ill effects from which they are apt to suffer. The typical Nux. patient is rather thin, spare, quick, active, nervous and irritable. It affects the nerves, causing hyper-sensitiveness, and over impression ability mentally and physically. Produces DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES; partial congestion and hypochondriacal states. Dyspeptic persons who always select their food for experimenting, that is digested little. He is subject to spasms, convulsions, and fainting. The patient seems to be always out of tune; THE ACTION IS VIOLENT, often irregularly fitful or inefficient. Twisting, and jerks. Spasms, tetanic, with consciousness; worse by slightest touch, but better by grasping tightly, or when elbow was stretched. Tense contracted feeling. Lightning-like pains. Neuralgia; prodromal. Sensation as of a rough body internally. Sensation of heaviness and lightness alternately. Bruised soreness; OF ABDOMEN, brain etc. Internal scrapy sensation or RAWNESS; in throat, larynx. Takes cold. Faintings, after stools, vomiting; after labour pains etc. Biliousness. Haemorrhages. Debauchees; much drugged patients. Trembling. Epilepsy during stool. Paralysis from apoplexy, in high livers; partial, with vertigo and nausea; with sticking pains. Reflexes increased. Firm fibered brunettes. Reversed peristalsis. Ill effects; of masturbation, sexual excess. Varicose veins, without tortuousity, black hard cords; from much standing, or from sedentary habits.
Take 15 drops in half cup of water 3 times a day or as prescribed by the physician
Adapted to thin, irritable, careful, zealous persons with dark hair and bilious or sanguine temperament.
Disposed to be quarrelsome, spiteful, malacious; nervous and melancholic.

Oversensitive; to external impressions; to noise, odors, light or music; trifling ailments are unbearable; every harmless word offends
Persons who are very particular, careful, but inclined to become easily excited or angered; irascible and tenacious.
Bad effects of: coffee, tabacco, alcoholic stimulants; highly spiced or seasoned food; over-eating; long continued mental over- exertion; sedentary habits; loss of sleep; aromatic or patent medicines; sitting on cold stones; specially in warm weather.
One of the best remedies with which to commence treatment of cases that have been drugged by mixtures, bitters, vegetable pills, nostrums or quack remedies, especially aromatic or "hot medicines." but only if symptoms correspond.
Convulsions, with consciousness worse anger, emotion, touch, moving.
Pains are ingling, sticking, hard, aching, worse from motion and contact. Tendency to faint; from odors; in morning; after eating; after every labor pain.
Cannot keep from falling asleep in the evening while sitting or reading hours before bedtime, and wakes at 3 or 4 a. m.; falls into a dreamy sleep at daybreak from which he is hard to arouse, and then feels tired and weak
Catarrh: snuffles of infants; coryza, dry at night, fluent by day; worse in warm room, better in cold air; from sitting in cold places, on stone steps.
Eructations: sour, bitter, nausea and vomiting every morning with depression of spirits; after eating.
Nausea: constant; after eating; in morning; from smoking; and feels "If I could only vomit I would be so much better.".
Stomach: pressure an hour or two after eating as from a stone; pyrosis, tightness, must loosen clothing; cannot use the mind for two or three hours after a meal; sleepy after dinner; from anxiety, worry, brandy, coffee, drugs, night watching, high living, etc.
Constipation; with frequent unsuccessful desire, passing small quantities of faeces; sensation as if not finished.
Frequent desire fro stool; anxious, ineffectual, better for a time after stool; in morning after rising; after mental exertion
Alternate constipation and diarrhoea, in persons who have taken purgatives all their lives.
Menses: too early, profuse, lasts too long; or keeping on several days longer, with complaints at onset and remaining after; every two weeks; irregular, never at right time; stopping and starting again; during and after, worse of old symptoms.
Labor pains: violent, spasmodic; cause urging to stool or urinate; worse in back; prefers a warm room.
Strangulated hernia, especially umbilical.
Backache: must sit up to turn over in bed; lumbago; from sexual weakness, from masturbation.
Repugnance to cold or to cold air; chilly, on least movement; from being uncovered; must be covered in every stage of fever - chill, heat or sweat.
Fever: great heat, whole body burning hot, face red and hot, yet patient cannot move or uncover without being chilly.
Headache in occiput or over eyes, with vertigo; brain feels turning in a circle.
Frontal headache, with desire to press the head against something. Congestive headache, associated with hæmorrhoids.
First half of tongue clean; posterior covered with deep fur; white, yellow, cracked edges
Ravenous hunger, especially about a day before an attack of dyspepsia.
Spermatorrhœa, with dreams, backache, burning in spine, weakness and irritability.
Asthma, with fullness in stomach, morning or after eating.
Cough, with sensation as if something were torn loose in chest. Tight, dry hacking cough; at times with bloody expectoration.
Cough brings on bursting headache and bruised pain in epigastric region.
Partial paralysis, from overexertion or getting soaked
Cannot sleep after 3 am until towards morning; awakes feeling wretchedly.
Better: from a nap, if allowed to finish it; in evening, while at rest, in damp, wet weather, strong pressure.
